Aromatic Qualities

Frankincense essential oil is a woody, cooling, steam distilled grounding base note. Frankincense oil is viscose, rich and decadent. The Ancient Egyptians used Frankincense to make insect repellents, perfumes, salves and eyeliner.

Properties

Calms the mind, cools inflammation, reduces the appearance of scars; opens the chest, eases grief, reduces nervousness and fatigue, can heal inflammation and pain; brings clarity and is associated with the Yuan or source Qi in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). 


How to Use

Blends well with Bergamot, Geranium, Myrrh, Lavender, Tea Tree, Ravensara, Lemongrass, Peppermint, Sweet Marjoram and any other top or middle note oils. Oils derived from resin are often used in creams and lotions for healing scar tissue and with flowers for anti-ageing. Combine with oils derived from needles such as Cyprus essential oil to deepen the breath. 


Safety

Frankincense essential oil is strong and can be heady when diffused in a small space; use sparingly. A little goes a long way. Frankincense essential oil is safe on the skin combined with a cream or oil base, worn on jewellery, in a massage, diffused into a room, or added to a roller bottle for daily support.
